To shed light on the rapidly changing solar energy industry, Arizona Corporation Commissioner Tom Forese announced Thursday that he will lead a series of workshops on the rooftop solar industry and its future in the state.

Forese said the seminars will highlight the impact the solar energy industry has on Arizona, presented from the unique perspectives of both out-of-state and local companies.

“A lot has been discussed about the solar industry, but there is little known about their operations, business practices and benefits to Arizona,” Forese said. “I want to provide an open forum for these companies to discuss how they interact with customers and what benefits we see in the state.”

Representatives from American Solar, Solar City, Solar Tops, Elevation Solar, Vivint Solar, and SunEdison have been invited to attend. The first workshop in the series is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Corporation Commission, 1200 W. Washington St. in Phoenix.

With the recent launch of its interactive Arizona Goes Solar website in September, the commission hopes to facilitate access to opportunities for adopting solar technology, as well as solar projects already installed in the state, for home and business owners. The Arizona Goes Solar effort is led by the Arizona Corporation Commission and implemented by the electric utilities in Arizona.
