Phoenix-based Salt River Project (SRP) is shedding light on energy efficiency this holiday season with tools, products and free LED lightbulb samples for the first 35,000 customers who take advantage of its special online offer.

By visiting savewithsrp.com/getfreeleds and completing a 5-minute home assessment survey, Arizonans will be eligible to receive two LED lightbulbs and be entered for a chance to win a Nest thermostat or smart home major appliance package.

The promotion, available through the company’s website and accessible via smartphones or tablets, is intended to raise consumer awareness for utility customers. SRP’s Home Energy Manager (HEM) is a straightforward tool to assist residents in analyzing their home’s overall efficiency and surveying options for year-round energy savings.

SRP wants consumers to know that LED lighting can potentially save consumers up to $135 over time in contrast to standard (incandescent) bulbs. LEDs produce less heat, use less power and last up to 25 times longer than traditional bulbs.

Cost-saving NEST thermostats are more sensitive to user control, can monitor cooling and heating systems remotely and respond to a home’s occupancy by adjusting energy consumption to match a household’s schedule.

The free LED lightbulbs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
