Fire-grilled chicken fans can flock to El Pollo Loco’s newest venue at 1314 S. Rural Road in Tempe, the restaurant's third location in the city and 20th in Arizona, the California-based company said Monday.

“We are excited to open our new, convenient restaurant near the Arizona State University, Tempe campus and offer our delicious fire-grilled chicken and Mexican-inspired entrees to university students and the Tempe community,” El Pollo Loco CEO Steve Sather said. "Our brand has been a staple for many consumers in Arizona and we are thrilled to continue expanding our presence in the greater Phoenix area and give our fans more locations to enjoy our offerings.”

Tempe’s newest branch occupies 2,724 square feet and seats 66 diners.

Known for its fresh ingredients inspired by Mexican cuisine, El Pollo Loco citrus-marinates, fire-grills and hand-cuts its chicken, serving it to customers in appetizing dishes from salads and soups to burritos, tacos and quesadillas.

El Pollo Loco operates over 420 restaurants throughout the western U.S., including Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas and Utah. The company is ramping up its presence in Houston and Dallas via both company-owned and franchised venues. The company is actively recruiting qualified operators in Arizona as well as Northern California, Colorado, Nevada and Texas.

“Some say the lengths we go to create fresh, delicious food are crazy,” the company said. “We say it's Crazy You Can Taste.”
