Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said last week that Arizona Department of Insurance Director Andy Tobin will serve as interim superintendent of the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions to replace outgoing Superintendent Lauren Kingry, who resigned.

Tobin will continue to lead the Department of Insurance while serving as interim superintendent of financial institutions. Tobin has served eight years as a state representative for the state’s 1st District and also has served as speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives.

During Ducey’s tenure, Tobin also worked as director of the Arizona Weights and Measures Department, successfully streamlining the division and improving efficiency. Additionally, Tobin has a background working in the private sector, specifically real estate, public relations, insurance and banking. An Arizona resident since 1979, Tobin also started his own employee benefit company.

“I want to thank Superintendent Kingry for his service and dedication to the state,” Ducey said. “Andy Tobin is a proven and effective leader who has helped make Arizona government more efficient and accountable to taxpayers. I know he’ll bring that same approach to the Department of Financial Institutions, and I thank him for his willingness to take on this new role in service to the state and citizens of Arizona.”
