Railroad crossing in need of repair

The Arizona Corporation Commission recently approved several rail crossing improvement and upgrade projects throughout the state.

The improvements include the addition of improved signal protection as well as new gates and lights. 

Gates and lighting improvements will be made at the intersection of Camelback, 43rd Avenue and Grand Avenue in Phoenix; surface upgrades will be made at 18th Street in Parker; aand signal upgrades will be made in Pinal Country on the Gila Indian Community at Della Road and in Coolidge on Storey Road.

Additionally there will be a bridge overpass built in Navajo County at Kerr McGee Road over the Burlington Northern Sanat Fe track. The 20-month project is estimated to to cost  $15.5 million, which will be funded by the Highway Tribal Transportation Program.

The projects are aimed at bettering traffic flow and increasing the safety of those who use the roads.
