The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is considering issuing an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) renewal permit to the United States Bureau of Reclamation for the Davis Dam water treatment plant near Bullhead City.
The Bureau of Reclamation applied for a renewal permit to allow the discharge of up to 40,000 gallons per day of backwash from the Davis Dam water treatment plant to the Colorado River in the Colorado – Lower Gila River Basin in Mohave County. Water treatment plant filter backwash is usually discharged into evaporation ponds. When the evaporation ponds are not available, the wash water is discharged to the Colorado River.
The permit and a fact sheet may be viewed online at http://www.azdeq.gov/notices or in person Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the ADEQ Records Center, 1110 W. Washington St. in Phoenix. Please call 602-771-4380 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org 24 hours in advance to schedule an appointment.
