The MassMutual Foundation and Paradise Valley Unified School District are teaming up for a celebration to honor Greenway Middle School students who have completed the MassMutual Foundation's FutureSmart financial education program designed for middle schoolers.
The event will be held 9-10:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 at Greenway Middle School, 3002 East Nisbet Road in Phoenix.
The digital FutureSmart program is offered for free to schools nationwide and is available in both English and Spanish.
Research shows that young people often lack the knowledge needed to make sound financial decisions. Only 16 percent of middle school students feel they will need student loans to finance higher education, while in reality nearly 70 percent of college graduates face student loan debt.
MassMutual's FutureSmart program is designed to help promote financial literacy. In the past two years, more than 450,000 students have benefited from the program through FutureSmart Challenges at NBA arenas.
The MassMutual Foundation teamed up with education technology company EverFi to create the FutureSmart program specifically to benefit middle school students to help them improve their financial decision-making skills.
