The Tucson Youth Baseball Experience will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at Kino Sports Complex, 2500 East Ajo Way.

This event is in its sixth year of offering youth a unique baseball experience among pro athletes teaching the skills of the game. Major League Baseball players J.J. Hardy and Kenny Lofton will coach this year’s event along with other pro players.

Children ages 6 to 14 are invited to participate in the free event; registration in advance is recommended. Each participant will receive a free event T-shirt. Check-in for the day begins at 8:30 a.m. After the clinic, baseball stars will be available for photos and autographs until 2 p.m.

“We have had a successful turnout every year with numbers going up,” Shelley Duncan, event organizer and former Arizona Diamondbacks player, said. “We bring in many coaches for the event to allow the kids the best instruction possible.”

Parents can spend time at the event listening to guest speakers or registering their children for little league. Food trucks and local sports vendors will also be at the event.

“With the financial help of Nova Home Loans, Sinfonía RX, Geico and others, we were able to make a staple event in the baseball community,” Duncan said. “It is now one of the best baseball clinics in the country.”
