The Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department (NRPR) is working with volunteers to rebuild trails in Tucson Mountain Park, a recent post on the Pima County website said.

The NRPR team is rerouting and rebuilding trails to avoid eroded areas and unsurveyed areas to improve the trail experience for all visitors. Volunteers can learn about trail build days, social rides and other events at the Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists (SDMB) website, http://www.sdmb.org/. The group has helped train volunteers how to build trails.

SDMB and NRPR provide all of the needed tools, lunch and some refreshments for volunteers on each build day.

Those volunteering should wear closed-toe shoes on build day and should be comfortable walking a mile or farther in a desert environment. No trail-building experience is required.

Upcoming SDMB work events are Saturday, Jan. 21, sponsored by JW Marriot Resort; Saturday, Jan. 28, sponsored by REI Tucson; Sunday, Jan. 29, sponsored by Catalina Brewing Company; Saturday, Feb.11, a sponsorship opportunity still available; and Sunday, Feb. 26 with Team Oro Valley Bikes.

For sponsorship opportunities, please contact trailsteward@sdmb.org.
