Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists are advised of a temporary two-day closure of Camino de la Tierra at the Rillito River area of The Loop.

The shared-use path is under construction while contractors perform improvements April 18-19, according to an announcement.

The Loop’s parking area and bike path will be completely closed during working hours — from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on both days — as crews install girders.

The Pima County Department of Transportation (DOT) advises residents that no alternative routes are possible for this two-day work period; bicyclists and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes to their destinations.

The DOT will have flaggers and signage visible at each end of the project, and the road will re-open after 5 p.m. April 19. The overall infrastructure improvement is anticipated to be complete by fall of this year.

Workers will install 21 bridge girders made of recycled concrete along the new bridge spanning Camino de la Tierra.

The county advises residents to be cautious around the area an obey all traffic control devices.
