Veterans will receive a special recognition at this year’s Great American 4th Celebration by the city of Maricopa.

At the 12th annual celebration, the city’s mayor and council members will give a speech honoring veterans during the Patriotic Celebration, which begins at 9 p.m. and ends with a fireworks display.

Flags will also be given out to veterans by the Veteran’s Affairs Committee at the celebration, which will also include the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.

The July 4 celebration begins at 6 p.m. at Copper Sky Regional Park. The city will have a complimentary shuttle service that begins at 5:30 p.m.

Family activities are planned for the evening, including a Kids Zone with inflatables, bouncers and carnival games.

Admission to the Copper Sky Aquatic Center will be $10 for those older than 3 who are Copper Sky members and $15 for nonmembers.

Entertainment will be at the main stage and will feature performances. There will also be a beer garden on site, as well as food venders.
