Arizona drivers will face some road work over the next week as part of the state’s Interstate 10 pavement improvement project.

Drivers should expect some delays in travel time due to the I-10 pavement improvement project between the Gila River Bridge and State Route 587, which will cause some lane restrictions and ramp closures.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), motorists should seek alternate routes depending on their travel direction and destination. Alternate routes include Riggs Road, State Routes 87, 187 and 387.

The ADOT also encourages drivers traveling I-10 beyond the Phoenix area to try to avoid the closures by using Interstate 8 and State Road 85 as alternate routes.

Also according to the ADOT, the I-10 resurfacing projects between the Gila River Bridge and SR 587 are expected to be completed this fall.

From 7 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday and from 7 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between SR 587 and the Gila River Bridge, according to an announcement.
