PAC Worldwide Corp., a manufacturer of flexible protective packaging based near Seattle, expects to create 50 jobs with the opening of a second manufacturing plant in Phoenix.

“PAC is excited to expand manufacturing to the West Coast,” President and CEO James Boshaw said. “We see fantastic opportunities in protective packaging and small parcel mailers for a wide range of customers and industries. Our plant in Phoenix puts us in a position to best serve those opportunities and provides a foundation for future growth.”

The firm’s products comprise wholesale bubble, flat poly and paperboard mailers as well as automated packaging machines, lab bags, security bags, stand-up pouches, insulated mailers and contract packaging services. PAC ships directly to thousands of customers in the courier, ecommerce, pharmaceutical and banking industries in dozens of countries.

“The quick access to California creates an advantageous market for manufacturing, coupled with a large, talented, technical labor force and pro-business environment found in Greater Phoenix,” Chris Camacho, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) president and CEO, said.

GPEC is the Greater Phoenix region’s economic development organization. Working with its 22 member communities, Maricopa County and over 170 investors, GPEC attracts quality enterprises to the region. “We join the city of Phoenix in welcoming PAC Worldwide to the region and look forward to seeing their growth within the market,” Camacho said.

The company will lease an approximately 166,000-square-foot building at 4570 Lower Buckeye Road. District 7 Councilman Michael Nowakowski praised the new presence, indicating that it reflects the West Valley and Estrella areas’ growing attractiveness to business.

“Adding a new, global manufacturer like PAC Worldwide to our community helps the Phoenix economy take another step in the right direction,” Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said. “I also admire PAC Worldwide’s commitment to using recycled materials to produce products that can then be recycled again.”

A privately held company, PAC Worldwide employs over 700 individuals and operates manufacturing and distribution facilities in Ohio, Mexico and Malaysia.
