Outer space, horticulture and more will be within easier grasp for students, thanks to Learning Grants from SRP, which recently awarded more than $125,000 toward math and science-oriented programs in 28 Arizona schools for the 2015-16 school year.

Receiving grants were: Ironwood Elementary in Casa Grande; Auxier Elementary and Santan Junior High in Chandler; Augusta Ranch Elementary, Eduprize Gilbert, Highland Park Elementary School and Power Ranch Elementary in Gilbert; Arete Preparatory Academy and ASU Preparatory Academy in Mesa; Centennial High School and Liberty High School in Peoria; Bernard Black Elementary, Explorer Middle School, Western Valley Middle School and Pinnacle High School in Phoenix; Hopi Elementary and Mohave Middle School in Scottsdale; Stanfield Elementary in Stanfield; Round Valley Middle School in Springerville; St. Johns Middle School in St. Johns; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Tempe; Sonoran Sky Middle School in Glendale; Great Hearts Trivium Academy and Millennium High School in Goodyear; Mesa High School and Step Up Schools in Mesa; Sheely Farms Elementary in Tolleson; and Vernon Elementary in Vernon.

Helping to provide equipment, training materials and software in a wide array of fields, grant funds will be applied toward projects such as Engineering is Elementary, other STEM programs, robotics, electronics, Hands On Equations, field research on the lower Salt River, 3D printing experiences and much more.

SRP, Arizona’s primary utility company, annually contributes more than $1.3 million to state education initiatives, grants and partnerships, providing free training and resources to educators throughout the state.
