Arizona Public Service (APS) said recently it powers the state not just electrically but also financially as the utility said it designated more than $10 million in grants, sponsorships and donations during 2015.

APS' ethos embraces empowering communities with generous support to nonprofits and academic organizations. In 2015, enterprises whose concerns range from education to the environment to science and math, art and music, scholarships, charities, human welfare and infrastructure all benefited from APS’ largesse.

“Our long history in the state has shown us that the success of APS is closely tied to the prosperity and health of the communities we serve,” APS Chairman, President and CEO Don Brandt said. “We are committed to empowering nonprofits to do what they do best and supporting education programs that will benefit our state’s future leaders for years to come. This commitment is ingrained in our culture, and radiates through all of our 6,400 employees.”

APS' aid to nonprofits in 2015 included the Arizona Science Center, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, MIND Research Institute, Phoenix Symphony Association, Phoenix Art Museum and Navajo United Way.

Academic recipients included Arizona Science Teachers Association, ASU Foundation for a New American University, Lowell Observatory and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
