The renovated play area at Mesa's Superstition Springs Center will celebrate its grand opening Thursday morning.

Imagination’s the motivation at Mesa’s newly renovated children's playground at Superstition Springs Center, which is holding an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at 6555 E. Southern Ave. in the Sears Court.

The ceremony will herald the first Kids Club of 2016 sponsored by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce,  and highlight the partnership between the project and a local automobile dealership.

Though the official title is “Play Area Powered by Superstition Springs Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram,” children may be happy just calling it the “play area” for short.

The first 250 children to arrive at the grand opening event will receive a free meal from Chick-fil-A, contributed by Superstition Springs Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

The renovated play area includes new carpeting, a grand entrance, device-charging stations and a big red Jeep.

Local radio station representatives from 92.7 FM “The Pulse” will join parents, shoppers, retailers and Chamber of Commerce members while local entertainers Persephone and Dewper lead songs and games. Polar bear lore will figure prominently, and photographers are welcome.
