BioAccel received a grant to help grow Arizona's bioscience, health IT sectors.

Phoenix-based BioAccel recently was awarded a grant of $250,000 from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for a project to provide entrepreneurial training and mentorship in biosciences and health technology in Arizona.

U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) said he is pleased with the grant the nonprofit organization has received and offered his praise of BioAccel's mission. "Phoenix’s health care and biomedical sectors are rapidly growing, and BioAccel’s new project will help create even more growth in these industries and further strengthen our local economy." Gallego said. "I want to congratulate BioAccel on receiving this significant award. All Arizonans should have access to quality, affordable health care services and BioAccel’s work is helping us to achieve that goal.”

With the funds from the recent grant, BioAccel will begin to partner with Arizona's health care system, including the biomedical sector. BioAccel plans to start three seed funds to grow the biomedical and health IT sectors in the state.
