Raytheon Company, a technology and innovation leader in defense and cybersecurity, said it was recently awarded a $573 modification of its previous contract with the U.S. Air Force to build advanced medium range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) in Tucson.

The AMRAAM offers operational capabilities for surface launches and air-to-air situations.It has also been operational on the F-16, F-15, F/A-18, F-22, Typhoon, Gripen, Tornado, Harrier, F-4, as well as Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. The AMRAAM also is the base of the national advanced surface-to-air missile system.

The contract modification from the Air Force has been granted for the work that will take place on the missile for the next three years.
