APS has been named Arizona large business of the year.

Arizona Public Service APS) was honored as the state's large business of the year by the Arizona Citizens for the Arts and the Office of the Governor at last week's 2016 Governor's Art Awards ceremony in Phoenix.

APS was honored for its contributions to the state's artistic community and for its employees' volunteer efforts with groups that include the Arizona Ballet, Childsplay and Desert Botanical Gardens.

Last year, the company donated over 127,000 hours to the Arizona community, and the shareholders from APS donated nearly $10 million to charitable programs in the state, with $900,000 going to organizations focusing on the arts and culture.

APS was nominated for the award by the Phoenix Art Museum, Musical Instrument Museum and the Phoenix Symphony.

"From serving on the boards of numerous nonprofits to staffing events, it is personally rewarding to know that APS employees are making a significant difference throughout Arizona," APS Chairman, President and CEO Don Brandt said.
