Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Air Quality Division Deputy Director Tim Franquist will be the guest speaker at the Arizona Manufacturers Council's April Environmental Issues Breakfast on April 13 at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel.
Franquist will address the federal ozone rule and efforts being made by the state agency to use opacity cameras for enforcement.
In October, the EPA stated that the National Ambient Air Quality Standard would be decreased from the previous 75ppb to 70ppb. The change in the standard would result in a large percentage of the state and nation to be over the new limit, which would require further action and planning in order to come into compliance with the new standards.
Franquist will be speaking on the implementation of opacity cameras, which would assist individuals in the determination of stack opacity, by making the analysis of emission levels simpler.
