The Arizona Department of Transportation's (DOT) Bell Road and Grand Avenue interchange construction project in Surprise is moving forward.

The $41.9 million project is expected to build an overpass that lifts Bell Road over Grand Avenue/U.S. Route 60 and the BNSF railroad, as well as an interchange for the overpass.

Crews recently poured concrete platforms to connect the columns holding up the future road. Project officials expect to move on to installing utilities, realigning 134th Avenue, preparing or paving, and curb installation.

The Arizona DOT expects Bell Road to reopen on schedule in November.
