National Pollution Prevention (P2) Week is the third week of September, and in Arizona, P2 Week is a time for residents and business owners to learn how to protect the environment by using fewer toxic chemicals, reducing water and energy consumption and generating less waste.

This year, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its P2 program by hosting two webinars showcasing facilities that have significantly cut back on waste through the years.

During the webinars, representatives from five companies will share their facilities' environmental achievements, including their participation in the P2 program; how to reduce solid and hazardous waste; reducing energy and water use; and industry best-management practices.

ADEQ will also provide information about its Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program (VESP).
