ADOT crews install crash-deterrent posts along portion of westbound US 60 in Tempe

To help prevent unsafe lane changes, Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) crews recently installed lane-separating posts along the westbound portion of the US 60 (Superstition Freeway) HOV lane between Kyrene Road and Interstate 10 in Tempe.

During the installation process, overnight lane restrictions occurred on Thursday and Friday.

White plastic posts or line delineators will discourage westbound drivers using the HOV lane from making sudden lane changes as they get closer to the the I-10 interchange. Sudden lane changes from the westbound HOV lane have contributed to a number of crashes along this section of US 60 in recent years.

The westbound US 60 HOV lane and next left lane were closed between Kyrene Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and again from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. yesterday.
