Arizona Technology Council President and CEO Steven Zylstra has been named the Leader of the Year in Public Policy for technology by the Arizona Capitol Times.

Zylstra has raised the council’s role in public policy, positioning the group as a leader in the state for driving a business-focused, pro-growth agenda.

He will receive the award during a cocktail reception event Oct. 13 at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix.

“I cannot think of a more deserving individual for this distinguished award,” Bob Witwer, vice president of advanced technology at Honeywell Aerospace and chairman of the Arizona Technology Council board, said. “Steve continually informs and educates policy makers on issues that are important to Arizona's technology community and testifies before the legislature on a regular basis. I look forward to seeing his vigorous efforts continue to pay off as Arizona’s potential as a technology hub flourishes.”

Zylstra has been president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council for nine years. He is a leading advocate for improving STEM education and serves on many boards and committees.

“It is an honor to be recognized for the public policy work of the council that is so incredibly important to strengthening Arizona’s economy,” he said. “I am very fortunate to work with great staff, council members and partners — all of whom share the mission of creating new jobs by expanding technology business in Arizona.”
