The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is considering the renewal of an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit to Kings Ranch Unit 2 Domestic Wastewater Improvement District to release wastewater from the Black Canyon treatment plant into the Agua Fria River basin in Yavapai County.

Kings Ranch Unit 2 applied for a renewal permit that would allow them to discharge of up to 10,000 gallons per day of treated domestic wastewater to the Agua Fria River in the Agua Fria River basin in Township 8 N, Range 2 E, Section 9, in Yavapai County. The Kings Ranch Unit 2 plant is a privately owned treatment facility that receives domestic wastewater from residences in Black Canyon City. Sludge is taken to a landfill for disposal.

ADEQ is accepting public comments on the rebewal request through Nov. 20. Information about the permit is viewable online at http://www.azdeq.gov/notices. Information is also available for review on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the ADEQ Records Center, 1110 W. Washington St. in Phoenix. Call 602-771-4380 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule an appointment.
