The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, the state agency charged with protecting and bettering public health and the environment across the state, recently issued three new air quality permits.

On Oct. 13, air quality permit numbers 62877, 62878 and 63895 were issued to Energy Fuels Resources (USA), Inc. for the Canyon, EZ and Arizona 1 uranium mines.

The Canyon mine is located south of Grand Canyon National Park and roughly 6.5 miles to the southeast of Tusayan. The EZ and Arizona 1 mines can be found on the north side of Grand Canyon National Park, positioned roughly 35 miles southwest of Fredonia.
