Arizona Technology Council President and CEO Steven Zylstra was named the Arizona Society of Association Executives' (AzSAE) Executive of the Year this week.

Zylstra is recognized for his commitment to his association and its members as well as his community. He will be honored at the AzSAE’s 52nd annual Awards Gala and Celebration on Dec. 7 at the Radisson Hotel Phoenix North.

“Steve is a stellar association professional and is well-deserving of the Executive of the Year honor,” Bob Moore, chief operating officer of the American Dental Hygienists Association and a certified AzSAE executive, said. “I had the pleasure of working with Steve for two years when he served as chairman of the Technology Councils of North America and I served as the first executive director. He leads by example, articulating the vision for his organization and getting those he works with to align with that vision.”

Zylstra said it is an honor to be recognized by peers in the Arizona Society of Association Executives.

“I have dedicated my professional life to technology and a career in associations, and I have been very fortunate to have worked with others who share my passion for the growth of Arizona’s technology sector," Zylstra said. "This award is a testament to my staff and the entire technology community in Arizona who work hard to ensure our state remains competitive in a global economy.”

Zylstra’s ethical and effective leadership guides every action and initiative of the Arizona Technology Council. He is a passionate spokesperson for using technology to raise social and economic standards in Arizona, and is an advocate for improving science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
