The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will honor the 2017 Woman of the Year during the 59th Annual Black & White Ball and Business Awards.

Deanna Salazar of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona will be the award recipient this year.

The awards event will be from 6 p.m. to midnight May 6 at the Arizona Grand Resort. Over 1,200 people are expected to turn out for the gala, according to a press release.

“Being chosen as Woman of the Year by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber is a tremendous honor, especially coming from an organization so dedicated to serving our community,” Salazar said in the press release.

During the event, the chamber will award individuals and companies that have contributed to the state in the areas of social progress and economic prosperity. These will include a man of the year award, entrepreneur of the year award and a corporation of the year award among others.

The theme will be a tribute to artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera called Frida and Diego: Art, Love and Life.

This year’s emcees will be 12 News anchor Vanessa Ruiz and 12 News reporter Nico Santos.
