Nonprofit event organizers can apply for grants through the city of Prescott Tourism Office, which is accepting applications of up to $5,000 to bolster events around Prescott’s tourism.

In partnership with Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC) the Prescott Tourism Office will allow the funding to be accessible to nonprofit organizations that sponsor multiday Prescott events that inspire overnight stops and bring more visitors to Prescott, according to a city press release.

“The program is designed to assist ongoing events, but also help new events to start up,” John Heiney, community outreach manager, said in the release. “We will particularly consider multi-day events that have potential to fill hotel beds, and take place outside of our busy summer season.”

On May 18, a mandatory meeting with TAC members will be held for organizers that have previously applied with no success. Those who have successfully applied are also encouraged to attend.

The TAC will review all applications in June and make recommendations July 1.

“Last year 10 organizations received a total of $29,300 from the City's tourism bed tax fund,” the City of Prescott said. “This fund is supported by the City's 3% bed tax, which is collected from hotels inside the City limits.”

Those who wish to apply for the grants can visit www.visit-prescott.com or call the Communications Office at 928-777-1362.
