The professional butchers at Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market recently kicked off grilling season, showcasing its all-natural beef and offering tips and recipes.

One initiative is the company-sponsored “My Best Burger” Challenge, which highlights nine top recipes submitted by food bloggers across the country, and aficionados can vote for their favorite at sprouts.com/mybestburger by May 26. The challenge feeatures a prize package worth $500, and the winner will be announced May 28, which is National Hamburger Day.

“Our partner ranchers raise purebred cattle exclusively for Sprouts, so we can guarantee our beef has consistent flavor and texture and is naturally more tender," Rodney Mills, Sprouts’ meat and seafood director, said in an announcement. “In addition to this restaurant-quality beef, our skilled butchers can answer any questions customers have in regard to product selection, cooking tips and custom cuts.”

Research by Colorado State University’s Center for Meat Safety and Quality concluded that Sprouts' beef measurably outranked its competition, with experts stating that the meat was 15 percent more tender, 28 percent tastier and 12 percent higher in yield after cooking.
