Tucson Metro Chamber recently named a new chairman and four directors to its board.

Selected as chairman for 2017-18, Larry Lucero has served on the chamber board for four years and belonged to the chamber for many years previously, according to a press release. He works as a senior director of government affairs and economic development for UNS Energy Corp. and Tucson Electric Power.

Wendell Long, Kelle Maslyn, Ian McDowell and Matthew Rosen were appointed as board members.

Tucson Metro Chamber’s president and CEO, Michael Varney, described how the group strives to recognize community members who exemplify the chamber’s goals.

“We … select these leaders so that the profile of our board reflects the profile of our community as much as possible in gender, ethnicity and age so that we have positive diversity of thought,” Varney said in the release. “This board will keep the change-making momentum of the Chamber moving forward.”

Lucero, Long, Maslyn, McDowell and Rosen join officers Barbi Reuter (vice chair), Robert Ramirez (past chair), David Lopez-Monroy (treasurer) and Sherry Downer (secretary), as well as other members of the board of directors.
