Casa de la Luz Hospice recently opened Casa Hospice at The Hacienda, becoming the region’s only hospice operating two inpatient units.

Founded by Lynette Jaramillo and Agnes Poore in 1998, Casa de la Luz Hospice has served over 20,000 families, according to a press release. The new facility at 2720 E. River Road, Tucson, will function as an interim placement for patients whose symptoms are too challenging for the home environment.

“When When my business partner Agnes C. Poore and I started Casa de la Luz almost 20 years ago, we never could have imagined a facility as beautiful and comprehensive as Casa Hospice at The Hacienda,” Jaramillo said in the release. “We’re incredibly grateful to our staff for their dedication and to our friends at Watermark for inviting us to take part in this one-of-a-kind project. It’s our hope that by increasing the community’s access to hospice care more will have the opportunity to complete their mission on this earth in comfort, dignity and harmony.”

Casa Hospice at The Hacienda offers 12 patient suites with common areas. The Hacienda branch is alongside a Watermark retirement community called The Hacienda at the River and matches its Spanish architectural style.

Along with the company’s original branch — Casa Hospice at the Fountains — the facility provides family support, as well as clinical and social services.
