The city of Goodyear’s Fire and Police departments will partner with the Goodyear Firefighters Local 4005 to host a 9/11 memorial ceremony marking the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The memorial ceremony, which will take place Sept. 9 at Fire Station 183 on Litchfield Road, will include fire and police displays, as well as public safety demonstrations and a children’s area.

The memorial will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a flag raising ceremony and will go until 10:30 a.m.

The Goodyear Firefighters will also have a pancake breakfast following the memorial, with funds raised being donated to the United Goodyear Firefighters Charities.

The fire department, a member of the valleywide automatic aid consortium, operates six fire stations throughout Goodyear. The department is an all-hazard agency which provides emergency medical, fire, rescue and hazardous material response. The Goodyear Fire Department also provides education to the community and emergency management.
