The city of Mesa is seeking applications for its Hometown Heroes Banner Program, which honors Mesa residents who are serving in the U.S. military through banners displayed in the city.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 5 for banners that will be placed around the downtown area for one year, according to a press release.

The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is designed to recognize and honor Mesa residents and their family members who are serving in the Armed Forces. Banners will be featured along street lamps on Center Street,  including for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. After the banners are displayed for one year, they are then given to the serviceperson or a family member.

The banners, which are funded through tax-free donations, are $150 each. The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is run by the city of Mesa’s Diversity Office in partnership with the Downtown Mesa Association.

To submit an application online or for additional information on the banner program visit www.mesaaz.gov/heroes.
