Tucson-based Pima Federal Credit Union has recently been awarded the Foundation Community Impact Award by the Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA).
MWCUA presented the award to Pima in recognition of the credit union’s positive impacts in the community and its efforts to strengthen the reputation of credit unions.
The MWCUA, a regional trade association, honored Pima for launching a community outreach program that provides care, kindness and support to the communities it serves. Through its program, Pima provides educational support and financial literacy, fundraising and sponsorships.
Eighty-three percent of Pima employees volunteered nearly 3,000 hours in 2016 to help at 75 organizations throughout the state.
MWCUA represents 125 credit unions throughout the states of Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming.
Pima Federal Credit Union was established in 1951 by a group of 16 teachers who had $84 in deposits. The credit union’s focus is to provide value to their membership and on building relationships with its members and customers.
Pima has seven financial-center locations, with its home office located on North Oracle Road in Tucson. According to Pima, it now has more than $472 million in assets and serves more than 55,000 members.
