The city of Mesa has opened registration for its winter recreation programs for youth and adult sports teams.

Winter athletic sports program include youth basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, golf and Playball. Playball is a multisport program that gives children an opportunity to play a variety of sports, according to an announcement.

The city is also offering adult sports programs, including flag football and kickball, as well as evening and weekend social activities that take place at the city’s sports fields.

Residents may also be eligible for fee assistance to cover participation fees in sports programs. To qualify, residents must complete a fee assistance form and drop off or send it to the Mesa Parks and Creation Department. For youth sports, copies of the student’s eligibility notification letter from Mesa Public Schools Food Service Department Free or Reduced Lunch Program must also be submitted. Residents can also submit unemployment verification, nutrition assistance verification, WIC assistance verification or Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System verification to be eligible for fee assistance.

Registration for the winter sports programs can be done online or in person at the Mesa Parks and Recreation Office, 200 S. Center St., Building One, from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Registration forms can be mailed to Mesa Parks and Recreation, P.O. Box 1466, Mail Stop 7010, Mesa, AZ 85211.
