The City of Goodyear will unveil information on its proposed recreation campus at a community meeting Thursday, based on feedback it has received from residents about what types of recreation activities they would like to see in the city.

The city’s 86-acre recreation campus is slated to open in 2020.

The city held a meeting last month to gain residents’ opinions on types of recreational activities and ideas for community parks to help in the planning of the new recreational campus. The city is now formulating that feedback and ideas from residents to plan for the recreation campus.

The recreation campus will be located at the corner of Goodyear Boulevard and Estrella Parkway with phase one of the plan including development of a 30-acre park, a 30,000- to 40,000-square-foot recreation center and an outdoor aquatic facility.

The recreation campus concept review open house will take place Dec. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the Goodyear Library on West Van Buren Street. Visit goodyearaz.gov/reccampus or email  for more information on the project and upcoming open house.
