The City of Avondale is offering nonprofit agencies and educational organizations a chance to receive up to $1,000 in grant funding for art enrichment programs, community projects and special events that benefit the Avondale community.

The city is now accepting applications for consideration of the grant funds, which is part of the City of Avondale’s Art Sponsorship Program offered through the Avondale Municipal Art Committee. The committee, which was formed 12 years ago, sets aside $5,000 each year to fund the arts sponsorship program which helps support art programs and events done by local schools and nonprofits. The committee also funds the Mayor Marie High School Art Contest each year in an effort to encourage young artists to seek higher education opportunities.

The art sponsorship program is designed to provide funding to support and enhance Avondale’s art education and activities.

Applications for the Avondale Art Sponsorship Program will be accepted now through Jan. 31. An electronic copy of the application along with the required attachments must be submitted by the application deadline. Applications and additional information on the program guidelines are available at avondaleaz.gov/art.

Applicants may also contact the Public Art Office at dfranklin@avondaleaz.gov or at 623-333-2787 for more information.
