Gov. Doug Ducey recently released his Executive Budget for fiscal year 2019 following his Education Budget plan.

The details of the of the budget are as follows:

***$284 million for K-12 education above and beyond, plus $116 million in inflation and enrollment growth funding, resulting in $400 million for public schools.

***$371 million in Additional Assistance phased in over five years.

***Limited payments to private prison operators to redirect the money to public schools.

***$15.8 million to fully fund the record increase in adoptions.

***Continued support for “Second Chance” programs, including $2.4 million to the Department of Corrections for  expanded substance abuse, educational and employment center services.

***An enhanced Wrong-Way Driver Night Watch.

***An improved Border Strike Force with a two-year phase-in of 24 new State Troopers, providing 24/7 highway patrols in Southern Arizona.

***$15 million in tax relief to Arizona veterans who receive retirement benefits, phased-in over two years.

***Maintenance of structural balance.
