The City of Avondale has launched an open online system, NextRequest, to process public records requests.

The system gives the public a way to track and access the status of their public records requests as well as search for archived documents online.

This will help the city, which receives around 350 requests for public records a year, adhere to the "release to one, release to all" policy being piloted for Freedom of Information Act requests at the federal level.

“The City of Avondale's dedication and commitment to transparency is evident in the fact that we are taking the steps to continually improve our process for the releasing of records,” Linda Mendenhall, City of Avondale records administrator, said.

The portal is available at https://avondaleaz.nextrequest.com or www.avondaleaz.gov/cityclerk

NextRequest was founded in 2015 and is used by governments throughout the U.S. In Avondale, the records retention and public records request process are administered by the City Clerk's Department. For more information, call 623-333-1000.
