This spring, the final layer of asphalt will be placed on Interstate 40 between Parks and Riordan, completing the pavement improvement project.

Repaving on I-40 west of Flagstaff will go from Parks to Cataract Lake in Williams. The pavement on northbound Interstate 17 from Milepost 312 to Milepost 340 will also be revamped.

A separate project will rebuild 5 miles of I-40 west of Williams between mileposts 156 and 161 in the westbound direction, making 34 miles of new pavement in each direction west of Flagstaff. The new pavement will provide a longer-term fix to winter deterioration.

Another project in the Flagstaff area will replace three bridge decks and the ramp pavements.

In the Verde Valley, 9 miles of State Route 260 west of Interstate 17 is being widened with new eastbound lanes paved up to Coury Drive. There is also work on seven roundabout intersections between I-17 and Thousand Trails Road.

Another project will involve the widening of U.S. Highway 60 in Show Low between State Route 77 and 40th Street, as well as completing sidewalks and providing landscaping.
