Pima Animal Care Center (PACC), The Humane Society of Southern Arizona and Hope Animal Shelter recently rescued 25 german shepherd and labrador retriever-mix dogs from an unincorporated neighborhood in Pima County near Marana.

The dogs' owner passed away in December.

Although these dogs have lived with other dogs, some are fearful of humans and shy as a result of spending their entire lives in a backyard with little human interaction. Some can walk on a leash while others still have to be carried. A family member has been providing food and water for the dogs since the owner passed away.

The dogs will be divided up among the three organizations and will receive vaccinations, spay or neuter surgeries, and behavioral support.

To adopt or foster one of these rescued dogs, please visit the organizations' social media outlets and pet listing websites. At least eight dogs at PACC need immediate fosters. If you are interested, please email PACC’s foster coordinator at pacc.foster@pima.gov.
