The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is looking for lifeguards and swimming instructors to work in its pools over the summer, beginning in May.

These positions are “seasonal, temporary and intermittent.”

In addition to being capable swimmers, applicants seeking the lifeguarding positions need to have CPR or first aid certification from the American Red Cross. They must also have a knowledge of hazardous situations and be able to effectively take action in such scenarios.

Applicants are required to be at least 15 years old by May 27. The Parks and Recreation department is offering lifeguard certification classes and there will be job screenings in March, April and May. The classes also offer opportunities to become a swimming instructor for interested lifeguards.

Applications for lifeguards and swimming instructors are available here and the deadline for submission is June 8.
