The City of Scottsdale is hosting an "I Love the Arts" video contest for area high school students with a $500 cash prize and the chance to give the city's future leaders an opportunity to show the importance of the arts in the community.

The contest -- sponsored by PHX Architecture, the City of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Arts -- will showcase local youth's love of the arts. In addition to the cash prize, the winner of the I love the Arts video contest will receive a membership to the Scottsdale Arts, will be a guest at the Mayor's Breakfast for the Arts, and will share their video at an upcoming Scottsdale City Council meeting.

Entrants must be a Scottsdale high school student or resident of Scottsdale. Those under 18 must have parental or guardian consent. Entrants are limited to one video of about two to three minutes in length.

The deadline for entries is March 23, with the winners slated to be announced on April 1. According to the city, video entries for the contest will be judged by a panel of community members that includes curators, communications and design professionals.

Video entries should be uploaded to YouTube with the video link sent to rsmetana@scottsdaleaz.gov with name, address and school in the email. Visit scottsdaleAz.gov and search “Love the Arts" for more information.
