The City of Surprise was recently ranked the sixth healthiest employer among mid-size companies in the valley by the Phoenix Business Journal. 

The city's wellness program addresses the overall health all employees. It includes physical activities, nutritional counseling programs, stress management, an annual health risk assessment and preventive disease management. 

City Hall also houses two on-site wellness rooms that hold various fitness classes such as cardio and strength training, pilates, yoga and Zumba. The Wellness Rooms also feature chair massages, reflexology, and meditation sessions. 

Other healthy employers in the valley included the Desert Mountain Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Nextiva, Southwest Human Development and Hospice of the Valley.
