Graduates earn 4,864 degrees, certificates from Rio Salado College

About 36.6 percent of the 4,864 degrees and certificates handed out by the Rio Salado College in 2016-17 were to students in Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Firefighting and Related Protective Services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Tempe conferred 1730 certificates and 51 associate's degrees in Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Firefighting and Related Protective Services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Corrections. Data shows the school gave out 1061 certificates in Corrections, followed by 768 certificates in Customer Service Support/Call Center/Teleservice Operation and 624 certificates in Criminal Justice/Police Science.

The college enrolled 18,636 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
