About 38.6 percent of the 969 degrees and certificates handed out by the South Mountain Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Phoenix conferred 374 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Art/Art Studies, General. Data shows the school gave out 303 certificates in Art/Art Studies, General, followed by 297 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies and 77 associate's degrees in General Studies.

The college enrolled 4,058 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
