Fountain Hills is now taking "letters of interest" from qualified electors to fill a vacant seat on the Town Council.

Cecil Yates has resigned due to his mayoral candidacy. The new Town Council member will serve Yates' remaining two-year term.

According to Fountain Hills officials, those applying for the council post must provide a letter of interest addressed to the mayor and Council, and complete a financial disclosure statement and a qualifications declaration form by Sept. 1.

Qualified candidates will be granted an interview with the mayor and Town Council, which will take place in September. Town officials have also announced they will host a public question-and-answer event in September.

Interested residents can visit www.fh.az.gov/councilvacancy or call the town manager's office at 480-816-5107 for additional information.
