City of Buckeye issued the following announcement on July 9.

Buckeye City Manager Roger Klingler was recently elected as the Chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments Management Committee. This is the first time in MAG’s 51-yearR Klingler Buckeye history that a Buckeye representative has held this position.

MAG’s Management Committee plays a key role in policy making decisions for the region. The Committee received input from technical committees, analyzes their implications and provides recommendations to the MAG Regional Council.

“I’m excited to serve in this role for the coming year,” said Klingler. “This Committee is a unique structure among regional planning organizations in the nation. City and town managers have great institutional knowledge about their communities, and it makes sense for them to have a voice in MAG decisions. My goal is to continue the great work already in progress to continue planning a solid future for the region and Buckeye.”

As Chair, Klingler will lead the Committee for the next year and preside over MAG Management Committee Meetings. The Management Committee makes recommendations that will benefit the entire region to the organization’s Regional Council Executive Committee, who approves annual goals, approval of amendments to the Annual Budget and Work Program, selects contracts and considers future agenda items for the Regional Council.

MAG is a regional Council of governments and a metropolitan planning organization that provides a forum for discussion, analysis and a resolution of regional issues such as transportation, air quality, economic development and human services.

Klingler will lead this Committee through June of 2019.
