City of Avondale issued the following announcement on July 11.

The Avondale Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a public design meeting with representatives of the American Ramp Company to discuss designs for a new skate park and a pump track at Festival Fields Park. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 7 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Avondale City Hall. The public is invited to attend and join the discussion, provide ideas or feedback.

The skate park and possible pump track components are part of a $12 million dollar renovation project that will begin in early 2019, which is part of a Capital Improvement Project for Avondale.

“Skate parks and bike pump tracks are a unique and important space for exercise, socializing, and self-expression” said Christina Underhill, Avondale Parks and Recreation Assistant Director. “This will be one of very few facilities in Avondale specifically serving tweens and teens. With that in mind, we would like to invite youth and teens to come and share ideas, as well as adults, as to what they would like included in the new design”.

Avondale City Hall is located at 11465 W Civic Center Drive, Avondale 85323. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Avondale Parks and Recreation Department at 623-333-2400.
